I recently got an offer from DE Shaw India as a new grad SWE. The offer is really good in terms of TC. However, I really want to move to the Bay Area in the near future. I was wondering if someone could give some insights about how easy it is to directly get an interview with FB / Google (Europe, or US) from here. would it be possible to move in the next 1 to 2 years, or do I need more experience before that.. TC: 0 (I am a new grad) DE Shaw offer: 29 LPA base, 5 Joining
If you are new grad why tag is jp Morgan, are you going internship there ?
Yeah, i created my account back when i was doing my internship here
Nice base for new grad. Does it include annual and retention bonus that deshaw gives
Stay there for a couple of years. Then apply to Stanford / Berkeley and get some sort of graduate degree. Then apply to Bay Area companies. You will start on a very high note. The other route is get transferred to DE Shaw USA, work for a couple of years and move to Rentech. In terms of TC, you will never see bigger numbers outside Rentech in your lifetime unless you start a company and you make a windfall.
Getting hired directly to US companies from India is almost impossible. Europe on the other hand is possible and these days many people are moving to FAANGs in Europe from India. If you want to move to Bay Area, best bet is to join Amazon either as Sde1 now or sde 2 later. After one year in Amazon as sde 2, you can move easily to US internally. Other route is Masters.
That's a really good offer for a college grad. I have a friend SMT there and doesn't get this much.
Does the base include annual bonus?
Is this Oncampus offer or OffCampus?
Off campus
Hey JPMC, incoming FB intern here. Can I please DM you? 🥺
Job at fb in bay area will give you 500k at some point of time ( not asa fresh college student) but long term life here is risky. You wont be able to buy home in palo alto. Deshaw is great in india. I would highly encourage you to do deep study before u move here
