Graduating in December and was wondering when should I start applying? When is it too late? Given I want to take a few month off before starting full time? Also if.my current internship gives a hard deadline for return offer (Uber) should I try to interview around and decline ? Or is reneging really frowned upon or recommended in this situation?
If you're looking for some startup experience to add to your resume let me know
Don't renege. If the first pick ends up being not what you wanted, it is always easier to find a different job, now with a little professional experience and you have an income while you do it. Hiring managers have running black lists of people who renege and you will pay for it later. Again, if it doesn't turn out the way you wanted, nbd. Like a race, it doesn't matter where you start, it matters where you go from there.
I'd highly recommend not reneging unless you get Google.
Of all the companies why Google as the turning point?
Because it's both high-paying and a very stable job (you can stay there long enough that they'd have forgotten that a few years ago, in your youthful indiscretion, you had reneged on a job previously - and make a lot of TC during all that time).
Don't renege man. That's just not professional. Ask for an extension. They will tell you that's it's not possible etc but it's really not that difficult, especially if your manager is on board. Also, start applying NOW.
Okay I will try to do that I haven't gotten to that part yet but I just heard around they're a bit difficult, and I'll try to apply now. As a new grad is there a solid list of where to apply or what company are more swe oriented?
Yeah the recruiter will give you some hot BS to get you to sign quickly. Judge the situation of course. As for applying, the company itself isn't the best indicator, the team is. You can be in a fantastic team at Amazon and learn a lot or a stagnant team at Google doing bug fixes. Look out for the best teams.
