New grad SWE at LinkedIn (worked for 2 months). Due to some personal reasons I want to move to similar companies (FB, Uber, Airbnb etc). Can i still apply as a New grad? Also could anyone in the above companies refer me?
What's with new grads leaving within 3-6 months?
3-6 months is more like an internship. I expect new hires to stay at least a year (unless there are extenuating circumstances, of course). Leaving soon implies giving up, rather than tenacity/persistence.
You could try but they may be concerned as to why you are leaving so soon. Like 2 months after I joined LinkedIn as a new grad I had an Uber recruiter aggressively trying to get me to interview, so it's definitely possible.
I am not really happy with my team's work. And don't want to wait for a full year before switching teams. Also it looks difficult to change teams here (different tracks). Better option would be to switch to FB and fight it out in the boot camp.
I'm only two months? What are you unhappy about? Is it ethical concerns? Or you just don't like the work? If it's the latter, then you just just wait it out a few months.
AirBnB considers you a new grad up to a year after you graduate so that might still be an option. Your best bet is to get in contact with a recruiter and explain your situation. If you're a good candidate I wouldn't expect them to make a big deal out of it
We only hire new grads through internships
Why the change so soon? Interviewers are going to ask
Work isn't what I expected. Also I don't want to stay a full year before changing teams
