Started my new job for about a month and a half now and I feel like I'm a fucking idiot. Any one ever go through the same thing? TC 108
Welcome to my world! With all jokes aside. LC and find something you like.
I felt the same way when I started at Apple (2nd job). I was a rockstar at my first job and I’m a rockstar at my 3rd job (Uber) - turns out it was my management at Apple. Everyone on my team also left Apple.
I feel that way every time I start a new job. At my 4th now.
8yoe here and still feel the same. Somehow made it till now.
Yes. Find something that makes you happy. Be proud of your work or what your work enables you to do(potentially outside work).
Feeling the same right now. But I guess it takes time to adjust to a new environment. If you're feeling like an idiot to change the work domain itself then may the God bless you.
Take it one accomplishment at a time. Does not have to be big. Gather 1 strong fact about the company and role every day (YTD sales performance, learn an SOP, etc) Seems small but that adds up to 250 facts in a year. Or shoot for one delivered accomplishment a week, whatever it may be. New roles take time to hit a good stride.
I think that's what I miss. Knowing things, at my last company I knew everything. And if I didn't know something i'd be able to learn it quickly. I thought I'd be able to take that ability and apply it my new job. Seems I fell short of realizing that this is totally new company, culture, and role. My learning curve is larger than I anticipated. I like your recommendation though, facts are indeed extremely important
Imposter syndrome is a real thing.
That's what I'm getting so bad right now. I feel like I'm in over my head sometimes
I have definitely had it a couple of times. One time I had an interview with Google. I cut it short because I had a very huge wave of IS happen in the middle and thought I was about to have a panic attack.
I feel the same way.. Any new team/job I start out in, I feel completely lost and useless when people junior to me are more competent and have more domain knowledge than me.. Its a good thing, in the sense that you have so much to learn.. Give it atleast 6 months so that you know the lay of the land :)
In what ways?
Dunno what I'm doing. Feel like I ask too many questions. Feeling lost Feeling anxious Feeling like I'm talking out of my ass during daily stand up Can't think properly Getting anxiety
seems pretty average, first job? sounds like you'll be fine though
