New masters grad data scientist job market?

Struggling to find a job in data science field after doing my MS in the subject. Everyone seem to want experienced profile in data analysis but I am a new grad in the field. What kind of jobs are available in various states and where should I look to get a job in this field?

Where is your degree from? What do you have in your portfolio?

Degree is from Boston University. I have prior 5 years experience mainly as a test engineer, and 1 year in data analysis in sql

I hypothesize that your existing experience is counting against you. You don't look like a fresh slate focused on data science, but your prior experience also doesn't look focused on data science. Recruiters are probably filtering you out because they don't know what to make of you, in addition to your inexperience. Solution: try to network with hiring managers directly. And build a strong portfolio.

You are bang on point there. Unfortunately I didn't get exposed to large data sets. And I didn't realize the importance of that until I graduated and started looking. My expectation as a new grad position was I can showcase my skills and tools on data analysis and crack the interview and then build my data science portfolio working on real life data.

I am an experienced DS, have worked on large datasets, currently leading a small team and working on high impact projects. I am also finding it hard to find a job, the market is really competitive with a high inclination on those with PhD. Keep trying.

Sure, send me the job posting or JD. I can share my resume over email or the preferred means after going through it.
