It was a phone screen + coding problem. The interviewer was very curt with me. The coding problem turned out to be a LC Hard (some weird tree problem). I was only a sophomore and was trying my best but there was no way I could solve it. I was explaining my logic out loud, and the interviewer kept criticizing me for not figuring it out quicker and getting it wrong. I felt so stupid.
At the end he spoke with me and it turned out he had thought I was a graduate student. Not sure how that confusion had happened, I had applied to the correct role and I clearly stated my year in the application.
Afterwards I looked up the problem, and even though I didnโt fully solve it I was definitely on the right track. His rudeness had scared me so much that I panicked half way through. Probably he had the wrong expectations since he thought I was a grad student.
They all roasted me when I showed up wearing a blazer and tie. It was funny.
