Not sure where it went wrong but I have not been able to move forward past phone screen except for Visa. Job - Software Engineer New grad Already Rejects : Visa Oracle Expedia Verizon Media Cisco Mathworks Lime Waiting to schedule Phone screen: Amazon Waymo Netskope Keeptruckin Totally lost hope as of now to get into a good company just after completing Master's and not even sure if I can make into the above ones right now. Did well in most of the interviews with little mistakes here and there. LC - 200+
Yea. I got plenty rejects. At least 40 recruiters just ghosted me. Keep trucking, no pun intended.
Haha! Yeah but feeling kind of dumb right now, not even able to crack these mid sized companies and then I think of applying and getting into FAANG
Don't lower your confidence.. sometimes your synergy doesn't match with the interviewer.. Just be confident. Watch some Rocky movies and don't stop leetcoding easy and medium problems. Write your solutions in different ways till it becomes a pieces of cake. And then move on to hard problems.
May the force be with you
Thank you!
I'm so terrible at tech interviews despite getting good reviews year after year. Coding Interviews are a necessary evil and you get better with practice and shed the fear factor. Just go out and give your best without worrying about the result. Things will click. Good luck!
Thanks a lot, I'll try to give my best shot for remaining companies.
that’s a lot of failed phone screens. something seems wrong here.
Yeah something is definitely wrong, I'm thinking maybe my thought process of explaining the algorithm or maybe I'm not giving the optimal approach.
It's not a lot for someone going in cold, but if you have solved 200+ problems on LC then you should be able to cruise through most big tech phone screen. I recommend that you spend a little money and do a few mock with real interviewers. Afaik interviewing.io is good. Also, pramp is decent free option.
Evilness 🙁
Didn't get you?
for every interview - keep a record of experience and go back to review after every other interview. find what went wrong and what can be improved. keep a feedback loop to yourself. And remember, some times things simply go wrong without reason. Keep going...
That's what I'm not sure about, there are some times when I think I did awesome and then in the end got reject.
You can always record yourself too. What I noticed is that even if I know the answer I come off as nervous or bored.
Are you interviewing in Python? Some companies are prejudiced against it. (Silly, I know, but you won't have the same problem with FAANG.)
Also, screw these shit tier companies and go interview with good companies with consistent and predictable interview process.
Yeah as you can guess, I'm interviewing in Python and most of the times I have not seen anyone saying anything about it, not sure if this is the tie breaker. Yeah I'm trying to get more calls but the recruiting season has already ended for 2019 software Engineer new grad for most of the good companies.

I got more than 80 rejects.. keep it going.. burn the midnight oil.. things will click. All the best!
Even I have gotten more than that but just mentioning the ones which are almost mid sized companies, regularly getting 10+ Thank you emails! Thanks btw!
