Converting LinkedIn profile views to Inmail from recruiters

Jan 28, 2018 4 Comments

I'm trying to make a transition from an Ops role to being a Developer. My linked profile says all star. I've applied online for some positions in other companies and I see that although my LinkedIn profile does get a decent amount of views from recruiters(about 50%), it hardly ever gets converted to Inmail from them to talk about possible opportunities. Is me being in an Ops role a reason for this?

  • Yes. Recruiters and hiring managers are risk averse. If your profile, which job title is a big factor, doesn't line up to what they are expecting, recruiters will pass over.

Would suggest looking within MS to see if a transition is possible to a Dev role. Otherwise you need devs from other places to vouch for you and take a risk on you.

And what does All Star mean, I think it was for profile completedness, nothing about if it gets you to your goal.

Yes. Network for a transition like that is a way to go / switching internally first. The views can be for ops roles as well

  • It’s hard to make that transition into development unless you’re going through your network or connections. Companies need strong developers - with so many other LinkedIn profiles with relevant and hands on coding experience, they are mostly likely to go after those folks first.
