I'm probably thinking too much into this but I didn't receive any pay increase in my annual review for this year. Is it due to the fact that I underperformed? When I asked my manager directly this question he said no and it had something to do around performance, potential and market value which sounded like bs. My forte review was "Achieves" and very positive from manager as well as peers. I just joined Amazon in August 2020 and I'm a L4 BIE with 105 base, 26 + 20 bonus and 20 RSUs Is it normal to not get pay increase for first year. #amazon #seattle
I think it’s normal for Achieves. I could be wrong though
This is totally normal for folks who joined in 2020. There are two good performers on my team (I'm a manager) in the same situation. Neither are even close to pip.
No bonuses as you got stock as part of 1st 3yrs
Only the top tier will have a slight base pay increase. For most people, Amazon will not increase base pay or RSU grant given that the Amazon stock itself has increased in value above the target 15% ... that is, the market has already given you an increase.
Got it makes sense, although I don't think the stock has increased above the target 15%. When I joined Amazon the stock was pretty much at the same price as right now.
Don’t worry you just joined recently so it’s hard to justify better rating unless you are super star.
I'm in a similar situation. Very good reviews but put on "Achieves" rating and no compensation increase. Manager says there's usually no change if it's your first year. Apparently I started in the top of my tier in terms of payment as well. I guess I won't worry as I have no reason to distrust my manager
If Amazon stock continues to rise, you won’t see any meaning increase until promo or RSU refresh past year 4. May get small increments as you move towards maximum base pay of $160K.
Thanks good to know someone in the same boat, I also have no reason to distrust my manager as he has been amazing so far. I was just overly-worried if this was related to performance in any way.
Hey bud go through this blind post : [Blind] Check out this post! Amazon leaked document that forces managers to PIP (Tech Industry) https://us.teamblind.com/s/hVUmECtF No matter what your manager says you are in the bottom 5% in his eyes and you may expect PIP. Either hustle or start prepping for other companies. All the best!
Ohh not really sure what Achieves is
I'm only 7 months in my job and my manager has been very positive in all my 1:1 so far, also I'm only BIE left in the team now since all the other 3 senior BIEs left. (We are hiring a couple more BIEs soon)
