My friend who works at Apple as Ops told me Apple doesnt give stocks.. is this normal for Apple?
Depends on yearly performance. Some folks for sure do not get stocks
Not all Ops. Groups are treated the same. Ops from Supply Chain, Manufacturing, get RSUs. AppleCare is also considered part of Ops in which many corporate, non contractor roles exist that can receive little to no RSUs with above bar performance reviews. Example: $2,000 only 1x year (versus other groups at 2x year) vesting over 4 years for exceeds expectations or meets expectations with several years in the role.

Best LCOL or MCOL city?
Lol apple most certainly gives stock (rsu). Maybe your friend is actually a contractor, in which case yeah they don’t get any. This would be the same for any company though
Could it be an ops thing tho?
I’m in an ops role (DevOps, really). I get RSUs.
