No news yet was interviewed 3 weeks ago at Intuitive Surgical

Is it fair for a company to not inform you after the candidate goes through final interview, presentation, etc. to not inform even after 3 weeks??? Yes, by now I have accepted I am not the chosen one, but wouldn’t it be nice to just have a human call you and inform regarding the results!!

Edited - Reached out to HR after 2 weeks, but no response yet!

Earlier this year, interviewed with a late stage startup and they took 2-3 weeks to respond back on two separate parts of the interview flow…both times after saying they usually make a decision within the week. The second time they did it, they didn’t even give me a heads up about what the interview with one of their their engineers would be like nor what we’d cover (even upon my asking the recruiter). Similarly, the interviewer seemed unprepared.

I took it as 3 things:
    • How streamlined the decision making process is for the interview process is an indication of how decision making is throughout the company
    • Their respect for the candidate is an indication for how they’ll respect employees.
    • That I wasn’t their top candidate for that role, which is fine

Upon closer investigation, I began to notice that for how long it’s been out in the market, for how much funding it’s gotten, and for all the resources and people they claim to have, their product doesn’t look it.

And a few months later, I was proven right. I also came to learn that their funding is running out.

So try to read between the lines, spot those red flags, and you might just realize that on some instances, it’s more of a reflection upon them than you.

Yeah! Consider it a no go and move on. That way, in the unlikely event that they *do* come back, it’s a pleasant surprise as opposed to a let down. Good luck, my friend!

    • Yes, I was unhappy as you invest a lot of time and yes, I agree it is inexcusable. As you mentioned courtesy goes a long way, but I have accepted and moved on! Focusing on what’s next :)

  • Take it as a red flag on how the company is internally.

If you want definitive confirmation, reach out to the recruiter/hiring manager who you had first contact with.

Worst case they tell you what you already think: you’ve been declined.

  • It's called ghosting, and it's commonplace nowadays. I'm sure candidates do it to companies as well

    • Maybe! Although I hope it changes as both parties invest too much time and efforts specially the candidate. I mean none of the companies in Bay Area entertain you without presentations which takes a lot of time and efforts.

  • In the exact same boat with Chrysler here.
3 weeks 2 days and still no response.

Hiring manager mentioned during the interview that a decision will be taken in a week or two. No response from the company yet.
