Non-Google tech opportunities in Zurich?

I've made a mistake of switching teams 6 months ago without thorough due diligence and regret it ever since: finding myself doing boring tasks with microscopic impact, team's disorganized with no vision, got assigned to inexperienced freshly minted manager with whom i don't really get along, SEE turned into CME on the new team, facing an imminent vesting cliff, etc. Thinking of quitting but money's too good. Where else can a guy make 300k+ these days as a senior engineer in Zürich? I've been reading some swiss salary surveys and the stuff is seriously friggin' disgusting! I'm getting a feeling like the market here's paying ~120-150k tops with little to no equity usually, like i'm some kind of chump - this is more than 50% dive to my google TC. Not considering move to US yet, I like it here in ZRH, but are there any other decently paying corporations here? If no why is GOOG showering people here with so much money?

I used to work in Europe. Heard Google Zurich is the highest pay place in all of Europe....even if you move to us the tax would be higher than Zurich right?

Zurich taxes start low but at Google's comp levels they actually quickly catch up to the rest of world. There's no capital gain tax, that's nice, and if you like living in the middle of nowhere with cows in Wollerau you can save a good chunk of money too. But if you want to live in Zurich City proper, I figure I'm paying about the same amount of tax here as I would in the US in Seattle for example

I think taxes are still lower in the 400k range but then grow fast to US level.

This may be a bit dated, but my impression of the Google Zurich office is that it is largely (though far from exclusively) used as a holding ground for non-US hires that intend to move to the US. Perhaps then for most people there, the market is SF rather than Zurich.

This is outdated. Based on anecdata, less than 10% are visa refugees, and most of them decide to stay.

I have heard similar stories about Zurich. One of my friend transferred from London to Zurich and was put on JavaScript. He also did not get along too well with his EM.

In Europe you're lucky to get above 100k. It's very rare in tech there

There’s a small FB Oculus office and Apple has a small office there, mostly computer vision... The only reason they’re paying so much is because they want to attract the top talent from Europe and eventually move them over to the US (at least that’s what I heard) I got FB London into a small bidding war with G Zurich. Maybe you could reach out to them and try to convince the FB recruiter that you’re only looking for opportunities if they pay similar salaries. If you’re good they might to try to match with equity. At least they did that for me, but I preferred Zurich for for quality of life. It’s worth a try. Btw. what team/product are you working on?

Thanks for the suggestions, but I hear these are really small offices, like a couple of dozen employees small. Google Z for comparison I think is a few _thousand_ by now and growing >Btw. what team/product are you working on? Would prefer not to name, or it'd be too easy to doxx me.
