Being on the inside... it certainly isn't. The last couple years has been a roller coaster getting rid of bad leadership... but we are on the right path. The sad thing is we get evaluated on the stock market to other retailers who are in deep shit. Things are actually looking really good. We've only been improving and surpassing our sales goals. Sure there are some areas of tech that need an overhaul, but the ones driving value are killing it. Read our last public earnings report if curious.
I'm getting ready to leave Nordstrom. Too many reorgs, limited career growth, lack of tech strategy, and unnecessary barriers to get your work done. Bonus is not performance based but based on company performance and retail industry is tough, though N is fairing better than others. There is a LOT of attrition. Choose your group wisely. But after two yrs there, I'm ready to move on.
Reorganizing is a sign of a healthy org. At Amazon it was expected to have one or two a year. Bonus has changed to being by performance, but the pool is set by total company performance. Stay away from the Magali / Keane orgs... they are the ones that will drive you crazy.

I got the senior engineer offer last year. Base 150 k ,. Sign up 10k , relocation 15k , yearly bonus 25% . No stock. I could slightly get a higher base if I negotiated.
