Not eligible for rehire at Amazon

This is what I found out about me from a friend who is a manager at Amazon. I worked for Amazon in 2006 for a year and left as my manager wasn't happy with my performance. Since then I could never apply again until my friend had a position and wanted me to go through the process. He discovered I am marked as not eligible for rehire in the internal recruitment system. I do not remember I was told about this during my exit process. What would be the best course of action if I would like to get this cleared and go for Amazon interviews?

Amazon does not deserve you !! Look for a company which has business etiquette , professionalism and not treat employees like cattle and above all from a culture and a system which does not respect engineers . My friend fell victim to a manger who was politician !! It may be you tommorow , so look for a company which has less of all this shit !!!

This is part of the vengeful manager power abuse problem that is endemic at Amazon. Even if you were rated a terrible employee, any experience and or tenure over 3 years should be disregarded as professionals grow and mature over the course of their careers. Amazon managers can manipulate the system to ensure you never come back to Amazon! This is yet another reason most people should never consider the company as a career option

Can ur friend find out why? Seems a bit extreme to put people on no-rehire for so long.

If you leave on a dev plan you are ineligible for rehire unless the HM asks for it to be reversed.

What if you leave after dev plan is closed successfully?

Just to add to it , I don’t refer anybody to Amazon anymore !! Rather advise them to look else where !!

You are not the only one doing this ...

Go look somewhere else. Amazon doesn't pay as high as other FAANG, doesn't value its employees and has a huge number of terrible managers (who have lots of power over their directs).

How it's different than any other company in terms of manager power?

Roku de Vil Nov 5, 2019

Haha these Amazon posts are too funny 😂

Amazon RazBlaze Nov 5, 2019

They are truth !! Nothing funny about it

Roku de Vil Nov 5, 2019

The truth is funny and sad.

Does same apply if someone is PIPed out? My partner was PIPed and eventually let go but they still get LinkedIn messages from Amazon recruiters and managers for new positions. They haven't replied back to any of those, but I wonder what will happen if they try to schedule interview.

Amazon RazBlaze Nov 5, 2019

Leaving in any of the below stages Piped , Dev list and pivot all means the same , No hire for life , unless a strong union for engineers takes up this case , no shit will be done !! You will just be victim crying foul later on !!

eBay Fsghjejshs Nov 5, 2019

Then why do recruiters and even manager contact a person who was PIPed out? Don't they keep their employment record before contacting candidates?

Amazon RazBlaze Nov 5, 2019

The policy changed last year !! Prior to that it was a 3 year ban !! My friend was a victim of it just a couple of months back !! And he did question them , and this is how it stands as of now !! HR’s are dumb and they are only for business and especially ones in Amazon side by the managers , so if you are an engineer your voice will not receive traction here .

I was rated HV for three straight years and when I left amazon (wanting to return after 6 months) I was informed I was put on the no hire list. This is after 4 years of work and just because my last Manager randomly did it on a whim. Seriously look elsewhere to work
