I graduated in Dec 2020.
Working at a Financial company as a SWE since 7 months now.
I see posts on Blind with people getting 250k, 400k, 600k TC while I don’t seem to get an interview.
For perspective, I have done a Masters and 2 SWE internships.
Wonder what could I be doing wrong?

TC 85k 😔

For every person that brags about 400k TC or whatever, there a hundreds, thousands of others that don’t have that. The 1% that is loud is not everyone nor the industry. And of course, not THAT easy to get in.

    • How are you doing in your current job? Doing well? Do you like the work, irrespective of the pay?

Agree with LinkedIn. Is there anything wrong with your current job? I know you’re comparing 85K to 200k+, but putting it all in perspective, that’s not bad for a new grad salary. I made less than that when I graduated with MS from internationally ranked school for very relevant degree for data (my choice though for non-profit). But also, it’s VERY hard to get foot through the door when you’re junior. You’ve only been at your job 7 months, if you don’t hate it, stick it out 1-2 years, take initiative, gain experience, maybe get promoted, then look.

Nothing wrong with you. Around here in this app a few lucky ones brag with their high TC. That's all.

85 is fine or even expected for a new grad that hasn’t been targeting FAANG and other top tier companies for a while. Just because you’re not there now doesn’t mean you aren’t capable of getting there.

Outside of blind 85-125 is fantastic money in MCOL and LCOL cities lol. You can work up to those companies. Post your resume here. Ask for referrals. Etc.

I went from 78k in a MCOL to 280k HCOL with potential for remote in 5ish years. Totally possible! Just keep working and applying to companies that are at least a step above than your current company every year or two. I went from 85 to 100 to 180 to 280 over 4 jobs and the tiers / name recognition follow.
