Long story short I was hired by Ford fresh out of college and managed to achieve multiple promotions within my first 2-3 years (been here 6 yrs). At the time I was hired and was mentored by a VP, a Sr Director, and a Director.

Then 2018 came and my first 3 mentors got fired after a restructure. I managed to keep my high profile under my new Directors but the 2 also got fired in 2019 after getting in the wrong side of office politics. Now im stuck working with former political enemies and on lower profile projects

It feels like i went from being on the fast track to no track.

Ill be turning 30 soon and feel like my career here is dead, should i just quit and look for a higher level job elsewhere?

I escaped a restructure layoff by switching sides. I was the only one that did not got laid off from a team of 20. Go to 'former enemies' make yourself available and be open for collaboration. If you have a good track record with a history of delivering results, they will accept you.
If they don't see any potential, then it's time to leave

Why not start job search, and only quit after landing a better job? Why do you have to quit first before looking for new jobs?

Ford and GM are going to be rough places to work over the next 5-10 years. If you think office politics are bad now, wait until the reality of the paradigm shift to EVs hits. There is no way leadership at either company understands how fast the transition will happen. I know Ford has the Mach-E and the Lightning (hope it doesn't get delayed) but in 5 years there literally won't be a market for new ICE cars. Ford and GM need to convert *everything.

If you think Ford can really pull it off, then stay, but personally I think the likelihood is low. You don't want to be at a company during an existential crisis. I would look elsewhere.

I'm not talking about dealerships. I'm talking supply chain.

The main issue with the challenger automakers is their supply chain, manufacturing foot print and distribution channels. If they have enough money to grow them for scratch they can play in the big leagues
