Gusto’s hypocrisy in their layoff

#gusto ’s bad way of laying people off yesterday and the layoff go against Gusto’s values. We were repeatedly told that there would be no layoffs so this comes as a big surprise and a complete lie. We already cut millions of dollars in spending and these 126 people don’t make a dent in terms of expense savings Peers getting laid off found out via text and via a LinkedIn post by Gusto announcing the layoff. Gusto leadership tells us that Gusto holds itself to a different bar but time and time again they prove that this isn’t true and blame their own naiveté or human error. When someone does this enough times it smells like a planned pattern We didn’t over hire and we didn’t over pay during the last two years. What is the excuse going to be this time Gusto and Josh remind me what’s important in my life and that our leadership is just another bunch of hypocrites who aren’t worth any of the sacrifices many of us were prepared to do to avoid our peers getting laid off #layoff #tech

Ah yes…we’re starting to see that these trendy non-FAANG startups don’t think or do any differently as they claim they do Everyone is the same a-hole at the end of the day Remember this folks!

Everyone is expendable and gusto nice is just toxic. Gusto folks would nice to your face and stab you in the back the first chance they get.

I’ve seen that this is something that everybody at every company complains about. Calling these people Amazon folks or Gusto folks or whatever is nonsense. At the end of the day, we’re all the same a-holes that just sometimes end up with a different group of a-holes. I really doubt there’s any company where everyone always does the right thing.

Gusto promotes niceness as a value, everything you say, speak or do should be gusto-nice. Even if it's not

All these new-age CEOs are bigger hypocrites than bigger Tech firms, that atleast need to adhere by Labor laws & regulations.

Gusto sLxc01 Feb 9, 2023

The founders are children in adult clothing. Until Josh, Eddie, and Tomer leave, this can't be a successful company.

Nice but not kind

All these funny sounding startups, pretending to be different and breaking out of tech stereotypes are just a farce. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig. No corporation cares about you, you are a number in a spreadsheet that can be deleted when necessary.

Lol gusto logo is actually a 🐖🐷

Bot disagreeing with the larger theme of the post but “126 people don’t make a dent in terms of expense savings” 126*200k = 25 million

Most of the people laid off were not eng. I would say average salary for people let go is likely <100k

Gusto XgxR52 Feb 9, 2023

I'm surprised a person working at Gusto thinks that an employee's salary is all that an employer pays to hire them 🧐

Everyone gets upset about layoffs, it doesn't matter how the company handled it you would all complain. If they knew three months ago layoffs were needed then the layoff would have happened three months ago. Things change, leaders react to circumstances both internal and external. If you're not happy with how someone else runs the company then stop complaining and go run your own company. The amount of whining and complaining from employees within Gusto is insane, honestly makes me wonder how anyone gets anything done (spoiler alert: they don't) when people are so busy just whining and telling leadership how to do their job. Maybe if you whined less then we would hit our goals and wouldn't need to lay anymore people off. Josh isn't the greatest CEO in the world, but good luck finding anyone else who cares more about this company than him. Do your best, react to what's thrown at us and get on with the job. There are times to reflect and provide feedback, and there are times to just put your head down and do the work. Nobody is making you join Elon's crazy twitter 2.0, just to fall in line and do your part at the company you chose to work for so we don't have to lay anyone else off

All you need to know about "Gusto's Values" is that Eddie, Tomer, and Josh gave themselves $34M last year.
