https://levels.fyi is lacking here. Can anyone provide yoe bands for Nvidias IC levels ? TC:168
I thought top out at ic4.
It goes upto ic8
I mean for most people.
Also curious
Following
IC5 is not exactly hard to find, but IC4 is where "most" people will end up. Both are senior engineer title. The top percent (maybe less than 10%?) will reach IC6. Principal engineer title. IC7 is relatively rare in the company. Distinguished engineer title. IC8 qualities are rare across the entire industry. There might be just 1 or 2 at nvidia. I don't recall what the title is.
IC8 is Senior Distinguished, and IC9 is Fellow. I think IC8 used to be Fellow.
Well there is only one IC9 so let us forget about that
It is safe to say IC 6 is where most people will top out anything beyond is very very difficult but possible
~20 years Bay Area (or equivalent) relevant experience (career in the same subject field) is ~IC6.
I've been here two years and still don't really have a good feel. The info is so buried in the hr system that a good number of people don't know their OWN level, and it's not publicly visible to have any idea what to compare against or aspire to performance-wise. IC2: fresh Masters grad IC3: fresh PhD IC4: typically starting around 7ish yoe, up to 15+? I joined at IC4 with 9-10 yoe, but don't fully understand the typical range. My understanding is that "most" engineers will top out at IC5 and never advance beyond that. Anyone else able to fill in more details?
