5yoe TC 25L INR (India) Klarna Stockholm 58k SEK/month (open to discussion) Zalando Berlin 67k EUR/yr (finalized) One might argue get a better job in India with 40L TC but honestly the QoL (quality of life) sucks big time in India. I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of money for a better life. Plus the experience outside is quite unmatched compared to India [need tips] I'm in the final stages of klarna interview which might take a while, however with zalando I've accepted it and the letter is on its way. How do I delay the signing? Is it okay to cancel in the last moment after signing? I'm leaning towards Klarna but unsure of which TC is good (amazing tech stack) (zalando seems like any other giant corporate who lowball'ed me) #tech #stockholm #berlin #zalando #klarna
Why are you more interested in Klarna? Berlin is a better location, comparatively low COL and would open more doors in the future when you want to switch. Being so far up north, Stockholm has really short days/ mostly dark for a few months and can make life rather difficult. Something to keep in mind.
67k for 5 yoe seems kinda low for Berlin to me. I am not sure how Klarna's offer compares tho
Yeah it's a bit less but Zalando doesn't pay that high from what I know.
how did you apply to these companies
careers page, stackoverflow jobs
great, congrats on the offers btw
67k for 5 yoe seems really low. Amazon Berlin offers new grad this much. Did you try to get interview with other companies in Berlin like Delivery Hero, N26, Amazon, Wayfair? If you want to leave India asap then 67k offer is good enough for Berlin which has significantly low COL than other tech hubs like Amsterdam or London.
Zalando offers new grads 40k in most cases. That is IF they are offered a position when ending their internship...
Make it a poll, would recommend Germany over Sweden
Berlin for lower CoL. Also, bigger startup hub than Sweden. Also, better location as Germany is kind of middle of europe. Travelling will be pretty easy. Sweden if they agree to bump up the offer by a lot.
I'd look for at least 20k eur higher offer from Klarna due to the various factors
Why didn't you opt Klarna, Berlin which is way better than Klarna, Stockholm? 1. Klarna Berlin center is more tech savvy compare to Stockholm 2. Weather is too harsh in Stockholm 3. I was given both options and instantly chose Berlin over Stockholm 4. Germany gives more futuristic opportunity compare to Stockholm
I'm still in first round of interviews. should i just notify my recruiter abt location change?
brother, my wife is in non IT. she wants to work, what scope she has in berlin? which is why i preferred stockholm bcz it's English friendly apparently in non IT sector
Zalando can go upto 80k. Did you negotiate properly? I have seen offers here on blind
I'm not sure. i asked them for 70k before the interview even began. then they offered initially only 61k. dirty tricks
First rule: Never say numbers first if you donβt know the actual range.
Both are horrible places for an Indian. You will quickly start regretting as soon as the honeymoon period is over. My advice is to stick to India but you obviously will not listen so good luck!
From someone that lives in Berlin currently, EUR 67k will be complicated for people coming in to the city, the rents are crazy high right now and difficult to find. I know quite well Zalando, and I think you could push it to ~75k. About Klarna, I worked in the same building where they previously had a center, and people there complained a lot about the company, but I don't have deep info.
@careem, any idea about the senior data scientist role? Glassdoor seems to suggest 85k+
fucckkkk. i repeated the same mistake as last year then when you say rents are high, how high? i may switch within a year after coming there π lowball me I'll get dirty too
Quality of life sucks - any reason ?
yeah same Q, afaik life is pretty good for high earning millennials in Bangalore/Hyderabad
traffic, pollution, congested (population), politics, communal issues
