Posting for a friend: My friend has 2 job offers and wants an expert opinion on which one to choose, My friend's priorities: 1. Scope for constant learning and growth 2. Work-life balance 3. Interesting research/development oriented job 1. Intel, Hillsboro, OR: Technology Development, Photolithography module, Process integration and yield engineer Package: 124k base, 15k sign-on cash bonus, 50k sign-on stock bonus, 5.5k relocation, 4 quarterly + 1 yearly bonus 2. ASM America, Phoenix, AZ: ALD division, Sr. Process Engineer Package: 110k base, 20k sign-on cash, 10k relocation, yearly bonus Please leave a comment on why you think Intel/ASM. Thanks in advance!! P.S.: 124k base pay in Hillsboro seems comparable to 110k base pay in Phoenix! #semiconductor #intel #asm #salarycomparison #offers #hardware #interview
Is it ASM or ASML ?
ASM it manufactures ALD tools.
Work life balance and semiconductor process engineering are incompatible. Also ASM offer seems low. No RSUs?
Surprising to see ASM mentioned here- I'm familiar with the ALD group in PHX, DM if you want to talk more and I'd be happy to discuss.
Go to intel! period!! Ex- ASM here , no WLB whatsoever, intel is better any day
Intel PTD is infamous for poor WLB and burnouts. But the equipment makers aren’t much better.
How much is ASM Paying for Sr process engineering roles for phoenix location ? TC/Joining/Relocation/Stocks ? One of my friend got offer of 125k base, 25k joining, 6k relocation .. was this good or he got low balled ?
125 base is good can ask for more though. I think for that level ASM can do RSU. Can try to ask for more RSU. But anyday Intel >>>> ASM. No wlb no culture, if you are prepared to just work without any respect ASM is the place. I know most of the semiconductor companies have insane work load which everyone should be prepared for in this industry but chose a company which atleast respects your work and the culture is good.
Is your friend indifferent as to location? Phoenix and Hillsboro are very different.
My friend is open to any location in the USA. But, comparing the cost of living, 124k base pay in Hillsboro seems comparable to 110k base pay in Phoenix.
