My OPT expired and I wasn’t able to find a job after covid layoffs. I had originally come to US for my BS in Comp sci. Going back to India - reconsidering life options. Any tips? #workvisa
Why don't you go to Canada
you can't just go..you need a reason to enter
that’s a great tip! I’ve been considering Canada but I have to plan it out with visa, job offers and everything else if its viable.
U mad Bro
You’re stupid asf.
You will be so glad & happy once you back on your feet. Get some experience and if you really have the urge to come back to the US, you can always come back for Masters. Good luck.
you are so kind. Yes, I can always come back for masters.
You will make memories wherever you go..that’s all what matters at the end of the day. Happiness is a choice..choose to be happy.
this
Hey Bud, you will be fine. I am not sure which part of India you are from. But try moving to Bangalore and work for a nice startup and be closer to your family. Once again, It's not the end!
Thanks! I’m from Hyderabad - and I love the tech scene both in hyd and bangalore. Appreciate the kind words
I guess this is a good thing that happened. Now you will either think about Canada or Australia or other countries where legal immigrants are welcomed
Yeah, Based on first hand experience, I do think that immigrants are treated poorly in US.
Not really. If you were born in any other country you could be having GC already. Some folks from RoW start their f1 and just drop off to GC without completing their degree and 'move on'. It's about country caps on employment that says we don't care about your skills - we care about an immutable 'skill' like country of birth.
Reach out to a good consultancy.... Mostly Indian consultantancy.... They will definitely have some solution for you Good luck 🤞
Yeahh that's correct. Beter option is find a consulting company that has more than 7 years experience A friend or referral who also help to better know the company before signing up
That is a pretty good avenue to explore, thanks!
Your parents are probably rich enough that you could do your BS in the US. Most Indians come after doing undergrad in India and some actually gain some work experience in India and ensure that they have what it takes to gain and succeed at a tech job. In your case, Im sure you parents will just pay off your debt.
India better than US and most western world, you dodged a bullet
I mean its not the end. Go work on a startup while in India, take advantage of being a citizen.. Bounce back. safe trip 👋
Thanks! I’m truly hopeful... thanks for the positive vibes!
What citizen.
