WD levels are highly inflated. They offer high levels to new hires who don’t qualify for it, just so they can win candidates even with a lower package. This creates high amount of dissatisfaction amongst the employees who have earned the same role after many years of hard work. If the choice is between high level at WD vs a lower level(and definitely a better package) at a FAANG company, FAANG wins hands down!

When I left WD. Staff Engineer TC were lower than Google’s mid to high L3. As exWD employee I’d call them shit tier.
