Wife got offer today for a scientist position in Redmond. Didn't say job grade but I guess E4. Base $140K, 10% target bonus, $220K new hire RSU. How does it fair? Which part could use a big deal sweetening? Thanks all~
No sign up?
Its the package competitors like Nvidia are offering fresh PhDs before negotiation. If she's in computer vision or machine learning, the TC can be bumped up by 10-15%. How they do it is generally upto them. Some managers have a lot of RSUs available, others can sweeten the deal with signon.
Doesn't seem there is sign on cash, but will clarify. She is in physical science not computer, so it might not be as high as those who are. 3 years experience in major materials company. Thank you both for responding~
Any update?
Slight bump on RSU. No other changes. Fair offer we thought.
How's the cost of living in that area? Is is more or less as expensive as the bay area?
Housing price significantly lower than bay area, which impacts cost of living in general.
Also, what is RSU and how that work out? Sorry, not familiar with this.
