Is "From the River to the Sea" So Wrong?
Affirm made a verbal offer for L7(Staff Engineer) role and is offering: Base:180k/yr Equity: 375k first 3 years 225k first 2 years According to their tiers I'm in the navy area which is the top 3/4 location tiers so they are not willing to budge on the base pay but I told them the cost of living in my area is same as any of the areas in their 2nd tier and so they should pay me accordingly. But the recruiter says they cannot do anything about it. I wonder if should just ask for more equity especially considering they have terrible refreshers. Thoughts? Current TC: 175k YOE: 10 yrs
That’s pretty low, you can do better, how are you going to match the 600 tc ers here
Ha I'm not living in tier 1 location (for cost of living). So I don't think I should compare with devs from those areas.
I had this exact offer from them. Complained about the rsu floor being 50 and they bumped it to 600k for the 3 year grant and 200 base. I suggest you tell try and negotiate. They returned wirh this after I declined.
Thank you for your reply. When did they make an offer? Approximately?
Within the last 2 weeks
Don't join, use the offer as leverage for another company
Ha I wish lined up my on-sites better. I have more coming up at the end of the month. Are you at Affirm currently? I'm actually interested in working there. Just have to not come off desperate but interested enough to make them think I'm not stalling.
Yeah but I'm actively interviewing
Multiply equity* 0.7. The equity is offered at 50$
Any chance this might get acquired this/next year?
As if I ll know
This offer is less than 300k TC? Do they have a annual cash bonus? What about sign on bonus? My recommendation is to give them a number and say you’re happy to be flexible between base and stocks
They are offering a couple equity grants. Overall the equity is (375+225) 600k over 3 years which would make the offer 380k/yr for the first 3 years.
Your year 1/2 comp is actually base + 125 + 112.5. So north of 400k
