Offer Evaluation: Bloomberg, Square, Google

Hello Blind, managed to get through some processes and have some verbal and tentative offers. Would like to hear you guys' feedback with my current situation: Bloomberg, Senior Software Engineer, 240k Square, L5 (in hiring bar, final step) Google, L3 (through team matching, multiple teams gave feedback to move forward) Unfortunately didn't nail my Google interview so I was downleveled. Bloomberg is in New York, Square is remote, and Google is in RDU. Figured the starting of a new office at Google would have many new projects to get in on the ground floor to drive impact and quickly get to L4. According to Levels.fyi, Google L3 most likely can't come close to Square L5. Even Bloomberg's offer seems to outpace what Google could offer in New York. Now my Google recruiter is asking for compensation expectations and for competing offers to give to the compensation team. She mentioned before that RDU range would look like 150-200k. Should I wait for Square to give me a package so I can add it as a competing offer to Google? Either way, please vote for where you think I'd get the best career advancement at those current levels. Current TC: 85k, 4 YoE, in the midwest #engineering #software #swe #google #bloomberg #square

I would go with either Bloomberg or Google. Bloomberg like you mentioned has higher TC, but Google on your resume looks better in terms of future opportunities.

Why not Square?

Yeah why take 2 levels below

Square and it’s not close. Square L5 TC will exceed Bloomberg by a lot and you can stay in the Midwest.

Square is the way to go.

That level in Google is a new grad position. It seems like a hard sell to take that instead of a senior offer in other places.

Bloomberg bridgeorl Sep 29, 2021

Bloomberg senior level is a joke. If you have 1+ YoE, you get a senior offer.

Yeah, I mean levels.fyi has quite a few 4 yoe at L3 so its not unheard of. The hiring managers explained that my packet was pretty strong as an L3 and getting to L4 should be like checking a few boxes. But internal promo to L4 is probably a lot lower in comp than external hire

Google L3 is an insult to you considering you received senior offers from Square and Bloomberg. I say Square if your focus is on growth potential, but whatever you do, do not even entertain Google.
