Both L5, Facebook offered 205K +15%, 700K RSU, 100K sign on
After negotiation, Google offered 205K+15%, 658K RSU, frontloaded, no sign on

Did team match with a GCP team which went well. I think Fb maximized their E5 offer but I wanted to join Google for good WLB. Just moved to the Bay Area and need to raise my 1yr old baby. Is Facebook culture really cutthroat everywhere even if I’m not keen to be promoted, or how is GCP comparing to Facebook? Is the difference worthy to leave the 100K sign on on the table?

Thanks guys! I think I’ll join G. Mainly considering the following facts: 1. I need good WLB and stability for family in the next 4~5 years; 2. The 100K cash is attractive but my family don’t urgently need cash atm; 3. I’m very experienced with cloud ecosystem being at AWS, but don’t know much about Fb’s products; 4. Personally I think GCP has better potentials comparing to Fb’s products.

I’ll post a separate post later about my interview and preparation experience. The outcomes were actually better than the best case that I was expecting.

Take Facebook and get the 100K, stay in boot camp for as long as possible. Work hard so you don’t get fired. Talk to Google before one year so you don’t have to reinterview.

Only risk is if the Google RSU goes up, you will miss out.
