Recently looking for new opportunities and luckily got those offers, looking for suggestions Dropbox: TC 260k backend Remote Doordash: TC 250k platform Remote Vmware: tc 220k green plum remote Bloomberg: tc 230k backend NYC Yoe: 2.5 How does people feel about Dropbox after it’s layoff this year? Edit: from the poll seems everyone is not voting for vmware, any reason?
Add location for each role
Done
In these type polls highest TC almost always wins. Or if it’s google vs other choices
There's probably some room for negotiating even though it's currently the best financial package. Voted for drop because of the rep that it's got some semblance of work life balance and no annual layoffs like VMware.
Does vmware have layoffs? Haven’t check but I wasn’t think it was that bad.
They’re not, it’s in areas the company is winding down and they help you find your next role internally or externally. But the comp don’t seem very competitive
My perspective is that choosing either Dropbox or Doordash will give you the best long term career path assuming you want to work for higher tier tech companies.
Thanks! Sounds reasonable. How do you feel about Dropbox vs Doordash?
Why doordash is a high tier company?
the TC you added is: (base salary + 1 year RSU + bonus) or (base salary + 4 years RSU + bonus) ?
It was only base and RSU, there are some signon bonus from dropbox and doordash but I don’t think that matters.
Dropbox has annual bonus too
doesn't doordash have bad WLB? what's so special about them anyway compared to grubhub?
Yeah, doordash probably have bad wlb
Depends on the org. Marketplace isn’t great, but infra and others have pretty good wlb, comparatively.
Greenplum is very narrow compared to other products and the other offers seem much more lucrative. The greenplum team is a great bunch, but not so great I'd turn down $20k-$40k in income.
Thanks for the advice! Since you are from vmware, do you know if green plum has great WLB and is there any pip/layoff in vmware?
Good wlb for devs, less true for services or support. Live customer environments don't fail during business hours! VMware has layoffs in January and reorgs in August/September that usually involves fewer layoffs. Generally get a lot of time to find new role in September reorgs.
What’s your Dropbox split ? I believe it you negotiate it up to 280-290 Also Dropbox give 7500 in perks
Thanks, they are giving out this offer and said given my yoe it is hard to make it better
Dropbox for good wlb
