Hi, Current employment details Role: NetSuite Administrator Location: LA Industry: Yoga apparel/mats (B2C and B2B) Base/TC: $108,900 No annual bonus New offer: Role: Enterprise Application Manager Location: LA Industry: Women apparel (all online) Base: $155K Sign-on bonus: $10K No annual bonus (as of now but could change) YOE: 7 years overall No other offers as of now. About my role in the offer: It’s a techno-functional role where I will deal with NetSuite, Shopify, Dell Boomi, 3PL integrations, scripting in JavaScript wherever necessary (they’re using external vendors for the scripting work right now which they want to bring inhouse), the position also require me to do day to day admin work like user account creation/disabling- so it’s kind of a similar role to my current role but with a fancier title & better pay- and also there’s a potenetial to grow into Senior manager or a Director role in future depending on my performance. My take: It’s a better pay for almost a similar kind of role but with a potential growth in future. Only thing I don’t know is if it will help me in long term as a resume booster. My main target is to get into more TPM / Architect roles in future. So, trying to build a strong base.
Is there much money in Netsuite development? It's so archaic and difficult to use compared to just building software with an actual dev platform; if it were me I'd run as far away from it as possible. Having used it a bit before it strikes me as nothing more than a slightly more convenient version of multiplayer MS Access. I'd recommend to go for the higher TC. I'd only stay with Netsuite development if there's significantly more money in it. The weird JavaScript runtime, painful UI, and reliance on synchronous code (!), won't translate into any skills that can be applied outside of strict NS dev. If you have the opportunity now to jump ship and build more general skills I'd say take it - especially for more money.
A 40% raise? Take it.
