Here's my take. WeWork is definitely out. Not even a worthwhile option. Salesforce is fine if you want an easy life, don't mind the mediocrity, don't particularly care to do aggressive career building, and don't mind the commute to SF. Rubrik is not perfect by any means, and has its unique challenges, but there are plenty of opportunities to push your career forward. Also, not working hard is not really an option at Rubrik. So, to me, the question is what do you want? Do you want to take it easy or would you like to strive to push your career forward.

Lol you actually see the ceo renting out his own buildings to his own company as a positive sign. That’s a big fucking red flag indicating the lack of any decent corporate governance. Man looks like the kool aid over there is stronger than the one at Tesla.

Lack of further investment by SoftBank is a pretty fucking big red flag. Things like the no meat policy are indicative of a distorted and clueless leadership that is wasting time and resources on useless policies. Get out of the reality distortion field and maybe you’ll realize then that everything is not propaganda or fud.

You scared of red flags? The startup world isn't for you i guess

I would stay the fuck away from WeWork. If there ever was a walking red flag it would be that company.

@knowbody could you elaborate a few reasons why salesforce is not so great in your opinion? Just a clarification the group that I am looking at is not the core salesforce which is what you may be alluding to. I interviewed at several places, rubrik was great of course but I have no reason to knock down my experience at salesforce as well. It was more or less a standard bay area interview so I am not sure about the bar being low.

Just judging from my interviews there and the people I know who work there. I was talking about the core group though. I’ve heard the acquisitions are better. I heard good things about Quip.

To uplevel the conversation a bit, OP's current employer (VMware) builds and sells solid software products. So does Salesforce and Rubrik. That's their bread and butter and thus they have an engineering culture in place.

WeWork is extremely innovative in what it did and deserves to be wildly successful, but it's bread and butter is not selling software. When I suggested the OP to not consider WeWork, that is an important aspect. The scandals matter too, but that's a personal moral compass. E.g. I could never work for Facebook or Uber, and the way silicon valley is going, that list is rapidly increasing. But there are 10000s of employees who are perfectly happy and successful there.

That said, WeWork could be investing heavily into it's software arm, and that may be a worthwhile opportunity for the OP to consider. WeWork employees should help OP understand those considerations. But they start out defending. There is so much to defend.

Why wouldn't i defend it when you lay (false) accusation after accusation? And then you go and write a post like this one instead of answering me directly.
Look dude, if red flags like partying and spending money scare you, startups are not for you. Its not like wework did experiments on people and got them into depression (FB) or it lists their employees as contractors to not pay them benefits (uber), on the contrary - our cleaning people get RSUs too

Fair enough. Rubrik seems to be a good enterprise business. Sfdc stock on the other hand seems to have hit the wall

Play hardball with salesforce. But not impossible ball, be realistic and upfront.

If HM really likes you, they’ll likely go for the highest end. 🍿
