Microsoft: $250K TC in Redmond (level-64). The team is poor(okay work). If I join, I will try to move to a different team after 6 months. Good brand name on resume. VMware/HP/Ebay/Intel/Cisco or likes of that : $321K TC in Bay Area. I like the team. I'm a PM with 9 years of experience. What do you suggest and why? No trolling please. Looking for your advice.

Tipping culture is really getting out of control! Waiter gave me ‘a look’ because I tipped her 10% for ‘BAD service!’
Msft is also non faang...
What’s the other company
What is breakdown between cash and stock for each? If TC for the $320k company is 50% stock, that’s a huge variable to consider (ie what is likelihood company will ‘succeed’ vs sink like the titanic)
It's same ratio for both. 60% base and 40% for RSU, bonus, signings etc.
After accounting for state tax and cost of living, bay area offer is still slightly better. Internal Mobility in Microsoft is not easy, and Microsoft is not a very great name on your resume especially in bay area.
That TC at ICE is worth it will the free food and perks
No way in Cisco u make 250k
Microsoft is only a bad name if you apply at a startup run by 23 year old twats.
Its easy enough to move around MICROSOFT once you are on inside if you are fine with a few interviews. You just contact the hiring manager directly to setup a loop. There’s a ton of variety across the company from programming languages, compilers, databases, gaming, car software, azure, etc.
When you internal , is it possible to ask salary raise.
No raises or promos for internal transfers.
Moving around internally is relatively easy at MSFT. You should make the decision based on the area you want to live in.
Go for Non Faang..Microsoft isn't worth taking a pay cut..
But Seattle vs Bay area..
It's 32k difference in taxes and ~12k difference in housing, so you are really comparing 250k Ms offer vs 275k non ms
