Trying to figure out if the offer from Apple is good. Have 10 years of exp as software engineer. Offer is 170k base + 20k sign on bonus + 160k RSUs over 4 years. The level is ICT4. Is this good offer? I am at Sr. Computer Scientist at adobe. And the team that I have offer from is IdMS
160K/4 or per year?
Seems pretty low
Looks really low for 10+ years of experience. How does it compare to your current TC?
Compared to my total comp at Adobe it is not much raise. But if I take it over multiple years, the stock refresh that Apple gives is much more compared to what adobe gives. And also there is not concept of bonus for ICs at Adobe, but Apple does give that. So in that way, it is a good offer
Their band for IC4 has a lot of upside and your offer seems to be at the lower end. If you had competing offers you can easily bump at least 50k more. In the absence of that however ask for more anyway and then be prepared to settle for whatever they end up offering.
What is your currect TC? If the TC difference is less than 10%, don't go to Apple because the workload there is 20% more than Adobe. Adobe is known for WLB and Apple is known for making work your only life. Also, this is very low offer. Apple is becoming cheap lately.
That’s really dependent on what team you’re on.
Lately?? It's been always cheap. They're good at dividends and shares buybacks.
What’s your comp at Adobe? All packages are function of what you are leaving behind. Unless you are ML ninja or have competing offer from tier 1 companies.
If you don’t have a competing offer then be prepared to get low balled.
What team is this for?
I know a few people at Apple and they said that this is normal these days for ict4 at Apple. And so I was trying to figure out. Also, I have been at adobe for 10 years and so the base salary is skewed for me. And bonus and RSU are not that much compared to what I hear from outside. So for me I will get paid more at Apple than adobe, but I was not sure about how the offer is compared to market
Take other factors into account. You have kids? Family? How long will your commute be? With the extra hours everyone pulls at Apple, can you work those hours and manage everything. In the end, is the extra TC worth it? If so, they take the Apple offer and live with no regrets.
Sign on can go as high as $75k for your level
They have been very stubborn in case of numbers in general
Also I have not seen others report 75k so not sure if that is normal
