Offer negotiation

Accepted the offer from paypal san jose for recent college grad BI analyst position. Initial offer was 95k , then they made 100k and asked me to accept the offer before midnight of the same day. Now i feel i was pressurized into the situation and the salary is not good enuf. Should i renegotiate? If yes how?

Tell them you don't deal with companies that user bullshit high pressure tactics. If they do this, it's a gambit. Wait, you already accepted? Shit, a little late now. If you want to renegotiate now you're going to need a competing offer.

This is called an exploding offer - usually companies that do this are scummy since they know they're lowballing you but are too confident that you're not smart enough to find out what you're really worth before accepting that lowball Be firm but be ready to walk away. The company's prerogative is to hire you at the lowest cost to themselves possible, so be wary of that.

Recent college grad = no leverage. You'll sign in the end.

You shouldn't haven't accepted the offer on the same day. If you negotiate now, you're compromising trust in my opinion

100k for a BI Analyst. What's your undergrad degree? Unless this is secretly a developer position, re-something-lax. You got a good offer. Don't act like there isn't a payscale distribution for any job in any company. Also, don't pretend you should always get the 90th+ percentile of that distribution.

I have a masters in informations systems management from a really good tech university

Ah. Having a master's will make you feel underpaid, but BI Analyst is squarely an undergraduate job to start. Take someone with a B.A. in something semi-technical. Add SQL, Tableau, and a dash of Excel/VBA. Instant BI Analyst. There's room for growth though. Keep the stats skills sharp and grab senior analyst role when those skills are at the right level.

New grad 100k for BI Analyst is a good package. Don't be greedy; it might backfire.

Having been a hiring manager in the past, I can tell you, "sign today" doesn't mean they're low balling you, it means, "we won't negotiate further" and "we are only offering this amount with the understanding that you won't delay and find competing offers" in other words it's your gamble, you can try to postpone and not take the deal but then it's on you to find a competitive offer for further negotiation. Plus, if you're going to PayPal then they know you're kinda out of other options. Take the deal, it's not bad, get a year under your belt then try again.

I had an exploding offer from FB. Recruiter was so pressurizing that they wanted an answer over the phone - couldn't even wait till the evening. I declined as it was lower than my current compensation. :(

That doesn't sound like FB but who knows every recruiter has their own tactics. Sounds like you got a bad one. I can't imagine Facebook offering less, that's not an offer. What was the offer TC? What level? What role? If they were unwilling to negotiate to offer more then maybe you're way out of your salary bracket?

BI analyst don’t do the dirty shit which a Software Engineer does .. so relax take whatever is given to that role .. don’t compare a software engineers salary with a BI analyst
