Currently working as a developer with sap. Got a better offer from Amazon. Around 20% hike. I really like the team at sap do I need to talk to my manager and see if SAP can match the offer or leave the company ?
It doesn't hurt to talk to your manager. You're in a good spot - you have an offer on hand with a higher comp and you're currently employed with a job/team that you like. If you're good at what you do and you have a good relationship with your manager, they'll do everything they can to keep you. If the goal is to get them to match the offer, have the conversation and come at it like "Hey XXX, I want to be transparent and let you know that I just got an offer from another company. it's an exciting opportunity but I'm more excited about our team and the work were doing. That said, they offered me 20% more than what I'm currently making. Before I make a decision, I want to chat with you and see if we can match this"
You need to balance what you have vs. what you will get in new place. I'm not in SAP anymore and I miss the WLB and the nicer coworkers I used to have there. Got more TC but less happiness
Amazon is Hire -》Burnout -> Fire, be very careful if its only a 20% hike. Having a high paying job for a long time supercedes having a very high paying job for some tims.
Amazon is crap, don't go, find another company
I think it depends who your manager is and your relationship with the manger. I asked for a raise and was told no so I told my manager about the offers. Now I seem to be a second-class citizen.
Perhaps ask for the raise without mentioning offer. Only if they say no you pull out this specific. Amazon is a sweatshop so your WLB will suffer. Is it worth it?
