I am getting following offer for Sr Principal Engineer position at Autodesk: Base: 200 Bonus: 15% RSU: 150K over 3 years please recommend on negotiation. YOE: 20
Senior principal! What a title. 😂 man 150k/3 for that feels crazy low. What company?
Seems very low.
280K TC for 20 YOE? Let me guess, you're in hardware?
Does hardware people earn more than software?
It depends on the company. Hardware companies seem to pay more to their hardware engineers than their software engineers, and software companies seem to pay more to their software engineers than their hardware engineers.
That's senior swe money not principal level
Low
I have heard similar offer for a fruend recently. Is that the best from Autodesk? @Autodesk folks
Let me clear a couple of things 1. We have too many levels. Sr. Principal = higher end l5/e5 2. That's actually a lot more than I would have expected. Am a principal. So doubt you'd get far in negotiations. Maybe a couple thousand in base/bonus. 3. If TC is the only thing that matters, don't come here, you'd be at loss. If you want to have a really good wlb, and when I say really good, I mean 9-5, no weekends, 10 days off at the end of the year, unlimited pto, flexible hours if you need, wfh opportunity, 6 week sabbatical every 4 years etc., Then this is the place for you.
Bonus for spe is 20% not 15%
150k over 3 years? 150k RSU per yr makes sense for sr principal engineer or maybe even that is low for your level
