I am an engineer at Uber, not a tourist at a zoo. Who’s the guy who thought it would be a great idea to let people bring pets to work. Once or twice if it’s some weird situation, sure; but why in the hell is it a policy in many tech companies? Leave your pet at your house.
Such hatred towards pets! It’s not safe for pets to be around you. Unless of course if a dog or a cat pooped on you, what’s your reason for such hatred?
I love animals. But a workplace is not the place for them. A workplace is a place for work.
A workplace is a place for work, but still there are events, etc held that are not directly or strictly related to work. I think a better gauge of whether something is suitable in the workplace would be whether it boosts productivity overall, while not being offensive to workers/ not violating labor laws.
For some, it'd be de-stressing and very comforting to see office surroundings that don't always look like an examination hall. Bringing pets, I'd assume, would be a step in that direction. Having said that, I can imagine not everybody warming up to that idea (some may have no choice due to allergies, etc), and, so, a dedicated area for pets in the office premises might be a compromise.
Had colleagues in Amazon with pets. Even when they are well behaved it can take some getting used to, like how some areas get fenced up.
Come to Seattle eng office - we dont allow pets.
Ffs why can’t you just chill out and let people have their pets with them. Did one of them shit on your desk??
.....finally, I’m glad someone brought this up. Thank you OP 🙏
I love animals. But if your loved one does not behave (or not brought up in the way to respect others), pls do not bring him/her to work. Was eating my lunch the other day, and dog almost stole a piece of it ;)
