I’m living in a city where there’s not much tech job in California. Working as full remote L6 SDE now.
I got an offer from Netflix. Based on what HM said, company is not officially supporting full time remote position, but his team is basically open to full remote and he believes that company will be open to full time remote position in future even though most of his team members are living in Bay Area.
Netflix offer is current tc + 90k and I can’t move to Bay Area for personal reason.
I read many Blind posts saying that Netflix is not a remote friendly culture and remote member will easily be out of manager’s sight so full remote member would have higher risk to be fired. (I don’t believe it 100% but think it’s possible)
I’m tt in current team and plan to start working on promo for next 1-2 years.
I won’t change company often since I’m living in a city I have to be a full time remote. WLB and job safety are more important than tc now since I have 2 kids now.
My team has good culture, good WLB, interesting project. So, there’s no motivation to try other opportunities than higher TC.
In my situation, what would you do between joining Netflix vs stay in Amazon and work hard for PE promo?
YOE: 7
TC: 390k
