Im a US citizen living in Europe, I want to start trading / investing but I'm not able to do so either in the US (because I'm not a US resident) or in Europe (because I'm a US citizen and banks won't deal with US tax regulations...). I still am registered as a US taxpayer though. Many of my friends are in this situation and I have not figured out a way to overcome this. I know that Charles Schwab offers a broker service but with minimal capital of $25k - which is a lot to start with. I wanted to run this in Blind as I know it's US focused, I'm hoping to get some answers here. Thanks a lot for your help!
I may be in the same situation once I move to Europe in a couple of years. I heard that Interactive Brokers is a good option, though ideally one should open an account with them while still being in the US. They also offer European accounts, but I don’t know if you can trade US assets then
This ^
I have an Interactive Brokers account in the US, but I wonder if there is a risk of them closing the account once I change the address to Europe. Or maybe better take a “virtual address” from one of those paid providers to keep a US address? 🤔
Financial service company needs financial advice 😁 Have you talked to a fin advisor?
I’m currently engaging with one and have not heard back yet
Same situation. TD Ameritrade and IBKR both work for me.
Revolut. It fixes this.
what happens when you try to open a brokerage online? say fidelity?dor address maybe use parents/relatives?
yes they request a US address, i didn’t try to add a relative address. though i wonder if it’s only to receive mail or also for regulations
