I have an existing side project A (website in beta), and there are projects I want to work on - B in due course of time. I have interviews coming up for G/ F and Amazon. 1. Will I have to disclose Projects A before joining ? 2. How will the IP ownership work for projects B (assuming my work does not borrow directly from my G/F work) ? Does it vary depending on where I am located ? I believe California has more laws in favor of entrepreneurs compared to other places like the East coast.
I think you're allowed to have side projects as long as you don't use Google resources (including laptop) to build them and as long as they don't compete directly with Google's services.
Washington protects individual employees inventions pretty well. If you don't use Amazon resources or time, you probably still own it, but you will need to sign an outside activity acknowledgment. Talk to a lawyer though :)
Usually they will want you to sign it over if you complete it while working for them. Get it in writing or disclose it legally
