I was waiting for a red light this morning and the huge ass Cadillac in front of me went full reverse as soon as the light turned green. An old lady jumped out said she didn't see me because I was too close to her car and she was trying to turn right and on and on about her friend working as a fraud detective. I know it's not a big deal since only the front bumper has been damaged. It surely scared the shite out of me. You know it when you see a huge car in front of you with reverse lights on. It's the feeling when you can only honk and see the inevitable. I don't understand why she was acting like I would actually earn anything from this accident and couldn't stop talking about she being 62 and I'm too young. Got her state farm card with name and address. People say she would probably lie by saying I hit her if I file a claim. Fucking made my day. I say DMV should have more rigorous tests for old people to renew license, not only vision but also general driving skills and reaction time.
You're lucky it wasn't someone willing to accuse you of sexual assult. Be careful and keep those distance in check.
Did you call the cops to get a report? It’s really really important to get an official report ASAP so the story can’t be twisted later.
Yeah sure city cop gonna have time to file an official report on granny backup into you at red light. The amount of time you're going to spend getting back your money is going to cost you so much more than pocketing it and letting grandma have a freebie.
It doesn’t take that much time to get a police report on the scene. Also, when it comes down to insurance payments, deductibles, etc. it really can end up being worth the money to make sure the right person is at fault.
I was actually on my way to an interview so no time for that.
Could’ve and just should’ve taken pics on the spot first off, video record whatever you can since you’re in a public place and it’s for her and your safety, and submit evidence to the interviewer/company and they’d most definitely reschedule. Are you afraid of an old lady?
I agree, and not only old people. People should need to pass race track style exams if they're going to be allowed to use 80 mph death machines.
Get a dash cam, solves a lot of this bullshit.
Just makes me think of my nearly 80 year old grandma telling me several years ago that as long as I check my mirrors I'd be fine on the road. This being said in the context of you don't need to look over your shoulder to check your blind spots. She drives a massive suv. Terrifying and amazing. 😂 Hope you are able to get it figured out and she doesn't try to come after you for something she is 100% at fault for.
The day I upgraded from sedan to a truck, I' got a dashcam. Best decision ever.
Two words: dash cam. I’ve had one for years. Best $80 investment and has already saved me once.
62 isn’t that old. Most people are still working. But I agree that licensing should become more frequent with age. I though it did. I remember the day we had to take the wheels away from my grandma because she could barely see. It was so demoralizing for her to lose her freedom. But that’s exactly we need services like uber/lyft and eventually autonomous pod cars for senior citizens. Licensing in general is very weak here. In Germany for example you need to test for both daytime and night time driving. Licensing is very extensive and costly. And as a result they have more skilled drivers.

Yeah, those people are right, you probably won’t get far with your claim that she hit you.
