Duniya me Vishwaguru ka Danka
Working in applied ML, but I feel the lack of formal grad school education holds me back from being put on the more ML-heavy side of projects. It’s mostly the full-stack/Webdev side of things. I don’t really want to stop working for a few years while studying in a traditional MS program. What is everyone’s thoughts of OMSCS programs. Like GATech, UT Austin, etc? Worthwhile, or a waste of time/money? TC: $290k YOE: 3 years
I’m doing the omscs program focusing on ML and aspire to be on applied ML teams one day ; the program is what you make out of it but I’ve nothing but good things to say about it . The bar might be lower to get in but a lot of people drop out by the end of it
The Georgia tech master program is good. The downside is that your effort at work wouldn’t be as much, might get slower promos etc.
See if you can slowly shift towards ML heavy stuff at work, gradually earning your manager's trust. Experience trumps MS, and you can certainly learn this stuff on your own. MS would still be a good idea, of course. Things are different if you want to do research, though.
