So, i am not an open office kind of guy and feel less productive with folks constantly chatting around, what are my options to increase productivity apart from noise cancellation headphones? Looking for a long term solution.
Tell the chattery people to STFU.
I wish I could
You might try telling your manager, or HR. Especially if you can get a few people who agree with you that the chatter is disruptive.
Noise cancelling headphones + music.
That’s what I do but it only works with low noise.
The way i did it was to put it in chat for everyone to see that we work in a shared space and it'll be nice if we all respect each other by contributing to keep the noise level around us to a minimum
Work away from your desk. Duck into meeting rooms that aren't in use, work in common seating areas with headphones, etc. Sucks, because open offices aren't ideal and idk why everyone keeps going to them. My job moved away from that to great benefit recently
yea they suck!! I went to 2 superdays and they were both trying to make it seem like open offices are the next big thing
Money is always the motive for open offices. They want to fit the most bodies in the least amount of space but I don't know if there's any data to suggest that it's beneficial for productivity and meeting goals. They saved money on rent but could be losing market share and competitive edge.
Learn to be productive in an open office
Wao! What a stupid reply. Hats off to you.
This is likely the right answer though, everything is going open office.
Schedule a meeting room and use it
Wiered to do it everyday though
Doesn't need to be the full day, but just a few hours. I do it whenever I need to get away from my open office environment and want to be more productive
You buy Goggle's that should shield you from neigbours screen
I think every office should have phone booths
And I thought the OP was talking about his preference for the MS Office Suite over Open Office.
I talk to myself as if I were rubber ducking, increasing in volume until it ruins to convos

Would the world be that much different if we worked significantly less?
Save some stuff for WFH Wednesday
Yeah that’s true but not really available over long term.
