Got an offer for grade 6 Software Engineer 4. The recruiter has scheduled for package discussion this week. Glassdoor looks weak and hence came here Can the gurus help me with the following questions : What’s the comp range look like? Growth at Juniper? Sign on? RSUs/Bonuses? Any other advise? I’m a masters grad with one year of experience in US, and 4 years abroad.

Opportunity for growth will be team dependent. If you join the CTO team, then you will have plenty of room to grow. I know this isn’t much information. And I wish I could provide you with compensation info but I joined via acquisition, so our compensation packages will be very different. =/

Juniper is a zero growth company, you should already be knowing that. If you will be working in Junos, please note that the sw is pretty much dated and you will forget any sw skills you currently have. However, if you will be working in newer stuff such as Evo or Contrail, work will be good. I think for sw 4, target bonus is 14%, but you will get less than that even with excellent performance. Reason, quarter after quarter of disappointing earnings. Recruiter will lie to you and will claim that bonuses are always fully funded. RSUs, expect around 1000, which is equivalent to $26K, this is over 4 years. This is pretty much a joke in Bay area. They may give small sign on, pretty much negligible. On a brighter note, WLB is excellent. WFH is liberal. With little effort, expect to get excellent rating in performance reviews, mainly due to laid back attitude of existing employees.
Thanks, really eye opening. Yes i interviewed for contrail team. Could you tell me what’s a good base to ask. Also how much normal increment on base pay happens every year?
If this is Contrail team, then it is ok . Base for sw 4 maybe around 150-160. Hikes are around 2-3%. Do not expect to get rich working for Juniper. Contrail work is good, so you can improve skill sets which might open up other opportunities.
Don't join juniper. It's going down the drain and any how as blondegold mentioned, the numbers will definitely disappoint you!
If it is contrail go for it, any other team I wouldn’t recommend. I was evo and it was bad.
Why do you think evo is bad ? I had good exp in evo. Agree that Contrail is way better. Comp will obviously be not competitive with top tier companies.
Has evo ever delivered anything useful in past 8 years? Useful in the sense that actually resulted in some profit, not the office politics BS for managers promotion.

Hi guys, I got offers from juniper and snaproute. Looking at the numbers the base is same in both; but juniper offer has bonus and Rsu where as snaproute promising options. Which one would you recommend? Please advise. My priorities are 1) get GC applied and reach i140 stage as I am on 5th year of H1B 2) long term career 3-4years with competitive salary Please let me know if there are any layoffs in juniper in recent or near future. Juniper has layoffs, but likely that new hires will be affected. Juniper has an excellent immigration team and does GC, but just that they cannot sponsor GC for 6 months after a layoff.. IMO, You should get in writing about GC before joining.
I don’t know exact numbers but I am sure the numbers will disappoint you.
