I have a B.S. in Biomed E with minors in Mech E and Math. On top of that, a 6-month internship that focused on sports research, mo-cap/force-plate data, and biomechanics - involved research and experimental algorithm development. I gained the exact experience I was looking for to start my career, sans a Master's. Over 6 months of unemployment go by with no interviews, so I applied to roles outside what I wanted. Landed a QE role for medical devices, and now I've been in the Quality/Validation space for 3 years. I don't mind the roles I'm in, but I feel like the more time I spend here, the more I won't be able to enter the niche sports science/manufacturing market. I would like to be in research, manufacturing, design, or anything biomechanics related, but I've only gotten bites on minimally-invasive med devices/pharma. I still religiously apply to companies I tried entering after college, like Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, Brooks, Google Fitbit, etc. At this point, is the only way to get into these companies a Masters degree? Or can my current experience be leveraged? Tl;dr: I want to revert my career trajectory back to what I wanted after receiving a B.S. in Biomed E, but I feel stuck. Open to any advice or referrals.
