I am MS in Mechanical from one of the top 20 US universities. Working as a Software Developer for 2.5 years. I am working in Pittsburgh for TC 90k. I got a job at Amazon in Seattle for TC 155k but the H1B petition was denied. I am comparing following options now. Any perspective/advice is appreciated. 1) Ask Amazon to reapply for a visa or challenge the denial. 2) Amazon can transfer me to Vancouver, Canada office for same role ( I don't know how much they will pay) 3) Apply for different companies (I am worried that those visas will be rejected for the same reason this is) 4) Stay with my current employer. (I am worried that I may get rejected during H1B extension. Even if that doesn't happen, does it make sense to stay in US knowing that I cannot switch jobs now because of H1B denial due to Mechanical degree?) #H1B #Amazon #Vancouver #Seattle #H1BDenial
Reason for denial? Also did you get RFE?
@chattbott I had got an RFE for specialty occupation. I don't know the reason for denial yet, but I suspect it will be the same.
But specialty occupation does not concern your major. If it was due to your major they would have mentioned the rfe reason as ‘how is your major related to the job’
What is the reason for denial
I don't know the reason for denial yet. But I had got an RFE asking two questions. 1. Why does the job require a bachelor's degree. 2. How does my education relate to the job duties.
@chatbott @tmro OP mentioned the denial is due to his non-CS major.
Thanks maye! Missed it 🙂
Vancouver is cool dude. I’d be happy to permanently move there if I had the chance.
Move to canada, you will get PR . Enough of this H1 shit
Denied as in “didn’t win the lottery”?
There's no lottery for H1B transfer
Yeah right, I misread something.
What was the reason for the denial?
Do you have any update , I’m also planning to transfer to amazon
OP, can you please tell what choice you made and how you worked it out?
1) followed by 2)
