It’s really DISHEARTENING to see so much of wildfires every year. It takes longer for forests to grow back and replenish.

There’s so much of nature’s fury lately throughout the globe.

The world has so many intellectuals, Phds and big minds coming from universities every year. But we’re not able to collectively protect and save what really matters.

Also world leaders meeting every year and discussing environment seems to be a big joke now.

In short there’s lack of understanding of the fundamentals with our generation.

I’ve traveled decently and observed the native tribes of the places I’ve visited and our past generations had greater respect to the environment and did their best to not harm the planet.

Still staying hopeful and doing my bit by volunteering environment related community activities.

Do you guys feel hopeful too?

  • How would you suggest reducing the number of fires?
I’m no expert, but it seems to me that we’ve been stopping too many fires and reducing logging so much that there are many places that are huge fire risks.
Before we were involved the overgrown forests would have burned and managed themselves.

Understand we may not be experts in this field.

Buy I feel the advanced tech is not still put in use, as much as we are for getting little comforts in life.

Losing billions to fire every year but not investing enough to come up with techniques for reducing intensity of this annual tragic events (which is only growing in severity each passing year). Not to mention the mental trauma of people who lose loved ones/communities they’ve known their whole life. Suddenly they are on streets not knowing if they can even restart. My heart goes out to them.

Relevant example for tech usage: appreciate Israel/Dubai for this, how they’ve made use of technology to an extent where they manage many things with sea water (using desalination plants).

I'm not discouraging innovative solutions, but people tend to think about forest fires in terms of fuel supply, without considering that most of the fuel is grass and shrubs that can easily grow back year after year. No amount of attempting to remove that fuel will solve the problem. Removing vegetation only leads to growth of even more flammable plants. It also destabilizes soil, which is why major fires tend to be followed by major landslides during the following winter.

Point being, forest fires will continue getting worse as long as the climate continues to warm. There is no engineering around that fact.

Native tribes and past generations had very different challenges than we do. Human nature is the same now as it was 1000 years ago. It’s not about respect to environment, but about inability to mess it up.

About hope. I think we will be alright. There will be problems, but we will adjust. We will not destroy the planet, it’s more powerful then we are. Life will change, yes, but it usually does.

Wild fires are natural and self balancing. The bigger problem us the amount of plastic, chemicals and other toxic pollutants we are introducing through our current technology.

If we had only cut down all the trees and paved everything, there wouldn't be anything to burn and thus there would be no wildfires.
