Did you pass an Oracle SQL Cert? How did it impact your career? I'm thinking about taking 1Z0-051,-061, or the new -071. Thanks for your thoughts!
0 or negative. I throw out resumes which list certificates.

Thank you both, could you explain a little further? The bosses at my current job encourage employees to take the Oracle Certs - they ran an in-house class and pay if you pass. The class had people from all departments across our company. When you see Certs on a resume does it tell you the candidate doesn't have enough job experience? Or does it give you some other insight into the candidate?
Nowadays certification are way overpriced.
I agree. The Oracle video courses cost more than a grand. The Oracle course offerings are all over the board - not streamlined in a logical manner. That does suggest their Certs are just a money-making scheme.
I've been an Oracle DBA for a long time. I used to get my certs every time a new version came out. Certified from V4 thru 9i. Finally woke up and realized that they weren't worth the paper they were printed on. No longer a DBA but a manager. When I see certs listed on resumes I think that the person is lacking experience or extremely naive.
In my experience certs provide very little. As long as you can interview and show your skills they won't help
