Moving to AMD and signed offer letter last Friday. I have to be in India on a specific date mid October. What are my options? Is it okay to travel overseas after filing H1B transfer? Or ask them to file after I come back (given that Lawyer prep, background check, LCA takes ~ 4 weeks and I would delaying the filing just by a week). I know lawyers are the best people to answer these questions, but I won’t be in touch with them till the background check is done. #Getting anxious.
Premium processing is stopped right ? So 6 months wait for approval ?
I have travelled couple of times while my application is pending. I had valid stamp in passport though
I heard you should be able to travel after getting the receipt
It does affect transfers and applicants. You should not travel outside US while the transfer is taking place. Without premium processing it could take 4-6 months. You can start a new job once you receive the receipt which is typically 4 weeks.
I wouldn’t be starting on receipt. I will be filing in Vermont center which makes my wait time ~ 10-14 weeks.

You have to be in the country when the file. Otherwise you can travel after it but will need to re-enter using your existing Visa and approval. If you start the new job then you will have to get a new stamping before returning.
I wouldn’t be starting with the new receipt, will wait till approval. I will have the current visa till June 2019.
