Just got the offer today for new grad SDE. i honestly feel like im in over my head. what can i do to prepare? anything i should know about the seattle/bellevue location? cheers
Do not be thin skinned. Have a backbone. Be prepared to work your ass off. Take constructive / negative feedback graciously and make changes quickly. Kiss a bit of ass and get to know your skip.
It’s going to be pure hell but the stocks will do well. Be ready to lose your personal life as you scramble to keep your job and the stocks that cone with it.
This is bad advice don’t listen to him/her. Learn how to work smarter, not harder. I get in at 7 and leave at 4/4:30 daily. Have a great personal life. The ones that are stuck slaving are the ones who slack off or are bad fits for their job.
Whatever. I helped scope jobs at Amazon. They are scoped for 60 hours per week with the understanding that turnover will be high and ambitious employees will work 80+ hours per week. You can skate by at 60 hours per week and maybe that will keep you off a PIP. Realistically, you are expected to devote your life to Amazon or face getting fired. That’s just life at Amazon...
