Salesforce join date

Apr 12 16 Comments

Today, I gave my two weeks’ notice to my current manager and told him my last day would be 4/22 (Friday). But he wanted me to stay one more week for handover, so my last day at Microsoft would be 4/29 (Friday).

I have a good relationship with my current manager. I want to know what the potential impacts are if I join Salesforce on 4/25 vs 5/2? E.g., any impact on my Salesforce stock price calculation? annual bonus? merit?

  • If you join prior to 4/30, you’ll be eligible to enroll for ESPP in May, with the paycheck contributions starting in June, and your first ESPP purchase in December.

If you join on or after May 1, you won’t be eligible to enroll until November. Contributions would start in December, with first purchase in June 2023.

  • You need to draw a hardline at two weeks. Managers always want you to stay longer yet the company won’t hesitate to walk you out the same day. Tell him you’re gone on 04/22 unless you really are a pushover or need the money and want to stay until 04/29.

    • I do agree, and I'm a manager. There's not that much more you will transition in the extra week, you'll be wishing you could just get started with your new job already.
The company won't hesitate to walk you out if needed, you don't owe them.
Once I gave 3 weeks notice so I could take a week off in the 2nd week and go house hunting in the city I'd be moving to for my new job.. I thought it would be a good opportunity to transition one week, and while I'm gone the middle week the team could think of all the things they wanted to ask me while I was out. It worked out well, the transition was a lot more effective. But I was certainly working a very light load the final week, all the goodbyes were said and I was just ready to move on.

  • If you start in April, your new hire RSU will be granted on May 22nd. Grant price will be average price of March and April.
If you start in May, grant price will be calculate as average of April and May, with grant date of June 22

    • I am going to break news tomorrow afternoon and end date will be 5/1. I want to know if they consider sf as competitor or not so I will be made garden leave.

    • OP
Yes, it is. Actually my manager told me not to send him my resignation email now (hold to one or two day before my last date if I still want to quit). Otherwise, he has to submit my resignation info in the system immediately and I will be “walked out” in the same day.

  • I am in a very similar situation, though my start date is 5/2. Didn't know that I would have missed a ESPP enrollment period.
