8 YOE Program Management experience, some coding │ Current TC: $131k │

Offer from a recruiting company, recruiting on behalf of Microsoft:
• 18-month contract
• $70/hr ≈ $145k salary
• No RSU's, contract company offers health insurance, measly 401k, etc.

Is this a decent offer?
Should I push for more? I don't know what sort of base salary I ought to be looking for. I think I may hold off on this and just try and get on as a FTE at Microsoft instead.

Try and avoid contract work if possible. Do you have any other options?

Why should he avoid contracting? Genuine question. In my experience contract offers tend to offer a lot more than salary offers, at the expense of less stability of course

It sucks to do, no career progression, less pay, no severance, instability etc
